Norway: Directorate of Immigration to make film explaining freedom of religion

Via Aftenposten (Norwegian):

The Directorate of Immigration (UDI) is considering making its own informational film about freedom of religion, following several cases in which asylum seekers were subjected to violence and harassment due to their religion.

UDI previously made films on the rights of gays in Norway. The point is to emphasize people have a right to freely exerciser their religion. The film might e included in the informational packet for adult asylum seekers, reports Vårt Land.

"There are difference principles in different cultures, and it might create more understanding for it," says director Anne Siri Rustad of UDI.

UDI are aware of 5-8 cases where Christian converts had problems while staying in asylum centers. The plans are to make the movie next year.

The issue was highlighted by Afghan asylum seekers who was attacked with boiling water. The Afghan was moved to a different center. Four other Afghan converts fled the same center because they didn't feel safe there, according to newspaper Dagen. They refused to be moved to a different center.
