Netherlands: Main problem is crime, not Islamization, says PVV

PVV head Geert Wilders called for minimum sentences during a debate in Enschede Monday. After committing three violent crimes, people should get a life sentence, Wilders said. He said he thinks it could have an enormous preventative effect.

Wilders said he doesn't want any more community service, committing criminals to mental institutions. A rapist should get at least 10 years in prison.

For the PVV, the Islamization of Dutch society is not the major issue, said Wilders. The spearhead for the PVV is 'safety'. "If you don't feel safe, you can't feel free in a country, either," said Wilders. "We reserved a billion euro for safety, with which we could appoint ten thousand extra agents. And those police agents aren't going to stand behind a tree with a laser. Instead of giving tickets, they're going to capture crooks."
